  1. I have a special, secret, INFALLIBLE, and ACCURATE inflation indicator. ADMITTEDLY it does not adjust for quality and technolgy value

reductions, But that is a subject for another time.

As a matter of fact you, and many others, also probably have this indicator. It’s called a checkbook. In my opinion, inflation of the real cost of living has run between 5 and 7% for the last four years, uncompounded. But I am not a Phd in economics, fortunately!

As Mark Twain so appropriately said: “There are 3 kinds of untruths: lies, damned lies and statistics!” Statistics can be twisted to say anything you want so using them to prove or disprove inflation direction is a wash. Where proof doesn’t lie is in the grocery store. A loaf of bread used to cost $0.10. It now costs $2.49. Tell me how this is NOT inflation? I can name hundreds of other indicators that prove beyond doubt that inflation is alive and well and eating all our paychecks, but I think we all know that…whether we want to admit it or not.

Why is my email address published at the bottom of each issue?

I agree totally. My wife and I had this discussion a short time ago. Between taxes, property taxes, healthcare and kids in college the dollars flowing out have increased substantially without any change in life style
